I have reached a turning point

A rehash of the past has become my future

Our Albion was a diary of events after we bought a house in London when we lived here between 2004 and 2012. It was way of telling family and friends a little of what was happening in our lives.

Some of my favourite writing was there:

I thought it lost, until I found the Wayback Machine.

I petered out naturally when life took over from writing. And then we moved back to Australia with our baby son so he could grow up surrounded by his extended family. A few years later we had a daughter and life was peachy.

Last year, my wife’s London-based employer offered her an opportunity to return to the UK for work. It was an offer we couldn’t refuse, so we didn’t.

Well, we did at first. We said we wouldn’t leave the relatively COVID-free Australia, where life was relatively normal — albeit 1.5m apart — until the schools were open. There was no point taking them out of school in Sydney to home-school in London.

Then the schools opened.
