How quickly do you trust someone?

How quickly do you trust someone? Is it a spur of the moment- this feels right- kind of thing for you or do you take your time? Or a mix of both?

I don’t know if she made this phrase up for herself or got it from someone else, but it resonated so strongly that I have been sharing it with all sorts of friends and colleagues.

And now I’m sharing it with you.

Such a simple statement.

Yet, when I think about it, it blossoms out on so many different levels because there are many areas in our lives where we interact with different people on different levels.

Take the simple example of hiring a person to do a job for you.

What’s the first thing you do?

If it’s not a recommendation from a friend, I go online and Google to see what kind of reviews they or their company has received.

And why do I do that?

Because I want to know if I can trust them.

If the reviews don’t stack up in their favour, then I start looking for another person with better reviews—someone I can trust to do the job properly, on time, at a reasonable compensation rate.

The same goes for when I book a room or a ride or buy an item online.

I read the reviews.

And that’s for contracting people to do the simple, everyday logistics of life.
