Rewarding The Brats

The New York City $100 vaccination incentive

New York mayor Bill Deblasio has announced that any unvaccinated New York City resident or person employed within the city limits will now be rewarded $100 for getting the Covid-mitigating inoculation.

This has to be the worst idea I’ve ever heard. Rewarding selfish brats? Maybe we should pay little Johnny a $100 bonus if he makes his bed and doesn’t beat up his little brother for a week.

I understand that the mayor wants the city’s population immunized. But rewarding the slackers and conspiracy nuts who haven’t been vaccinated? I have a better plan:

Make an announcement to all those unvaccinated citizens: If you are unvaccinated, refuse the inoculation, and catch Covid, we will not treat you or admit you to the hospital if you aren’t insured. And that includes all people on Medicaid. The taxpayer will continue paying your Medicaid bill unless your illness is Covid-related and you haven’t been vaccinated. Then you’re out of luck. You didn’t think this Covid deal was serious enough to get vaccinated? Tell me how that’s working out for you now.

Furthermore — where’s my $100? I got vaccinated immediately. When there were lines. I did the right and responsible thing. How come some selfish slacker gets a payday and I don’t? I want $200 for getting inoculated early!

A hundred dollar reward to get vaccinated! Gimme a break! How's about a knock upside the head for not getting vaccinated. That makes more sense to me.
