Illustrating a Twitter Feed

On the 1st October 2018, Dr Faith Uwadae started a much-needed twitter campaign to promote diversity in STEM. Every day throughout Black History Month she highlighted a Scientist, Clinician or Inventor on her Twitter account. When I met Faith at a recent Imperial College event I asked her if I could illustrate this feed and was incredibly excited when she said yes.

So here we go, I’m off to turn even more amazing scientists, inventors and clinicians, into the superheroes that they are. Each Day I’ll attempt to illustrate more:

“Born in 1962. Immunologist. Associate Professor of Immunology at the Royal Veterinary College, London. His research focuses on how the immune system ages, in particular, the role that the thymus plays.

“Born in 1968. British space scientist and science communicator. Honorary Research Associate at UCL. Co-presenter of the TV show “The Sky at Night”. Passionately works to encourage young people into space science.

“Born in 1731. Mathematician, astronomer and author. At 22 he made America’s first functioning clock. He enjoyed astronomy and predicted the 1789 solar eclipse. In 1792 he published his first of many almanacks.

“Born in 1972. Microbiologist. Senior Lecturer at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Nigeria. His research investigates the genetic basis for antibiotic resistance in West African disease-causing bacteria.”
