This course covers many topics, some of which you’re likely to have some experience with — many others will be completely new to you, but not to your classmates. It’s this dynamism — not disparity — that produces useful outcomes. This is why you’ll be a team, rather than lone wolf.

Throughout the next few weeks, you’re going to be working on a variety of challenging problems through the act of conceiving and prototyping a creative product. The projects are designed to give you an opportunity to blend observations, data and technology together to inform a business and help them to improve, but more importantly to give you the opportunity to investigate and discover.

This team project is just one means to an end, but it is an important one because one outcome I want for each of you in this course is for you to build your brand. By working well in teams, you not only have a more well-rounded project, but you will be able to tell a richer story about both your project, as well as how you contributed and worked with others.

By the end of these course, you will be a better:

You will be taking on a role within a team of students that have been asked to help a globally diverse business improve their operations and strategy by exploring how creative technology products might improve their operations or bring access to new markets.

This first assignment doubles as a way to get to know you better but also as a the foreshadowing of the final assignment in the course, where I would like you to produce a portfolio entry summarizing not only what you created, but summarizing you.
