How to Maintain Skin to be Proud Of

Healthy skin starts with a healthy body. A diet that is high in antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables will impact the skin in unexpected ways. Omega-3 fatty acids are also important for the skin.

As a general rule, eat at least one antioxidant-rich food each day and strive to get at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. For example, add berries to breakfast or drink green tea in the morning. The antioxidants are good for the skin.

Eating fatty fish, such as wild salmon, is another method of helping to improve the skin through diet. A healthy diet includes fish because of the heart and skin healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

As a general rule, only wash the face in the evening and use lukewarm water. If the skin is naturally oily, then wash twice per day to avoid drying out the skin.

Smoking prematurely ages the skin. Any individual who smokes should take measures to quit.

Try to sleep at least 6 to 8 hours per night. Lack of sleep causes the stress hormones in the body to increase, which in turn damages the skin and other connective tissues. Combat stress by getting enough sleep at night.

Maintaining great skin is not as hard as it might seem. Although it is important to see a dermatologist to combat certain problems, taking measures to care for the skin properly will have a dramatic impact on the health and look of the skin.
