New Afrikans Have The Right To Free The Land

As New Afrikans living in occupied turtle island (north amerikkka), it is fundamental we understand that it is our human right to be able to defend ourselves. It is our human right to also free ourselves from the captivity of euro-amerikkkan rule. While New Afrikans are originally indigenous to Afrika, which is the motherland of all humanity, it is important we understand our relationship to this land known as amerikkka, as well as our new identity as New Afrikans.

To do so, we must understand the history of the land we are on. amerikka is a settler colony, meaning, the europeans came to amerikkka and “settled/colonized” on it, while simultaneously committing genocide towards first nations peoples. Hence why we refer to europeans in amerikkka as euro-amerikkans because “amerikkka” is nothing but a white nationalist settler state that was made up from the destruction caused by european’s actions. While the indigenous land was colonized, the euro-amerikkans forced New Afrikans to this land as enslaved people. This forced labor helped build what we know today as amerikka. Rather than euro-amerikkkans setting up a colony on the continent of Afrika, instead they stole many different tribes of Afrikans and set up the colony in the south, which Harold Cruce describes as Domestic Colonialism. This “domestic colony” is now forced to build the economic system of amerikkka. Not only were enslaved Afrikans the first currency of this country, but our ancestors’ labor laid the foundation of this economy we know today. Amerikkka would not be a “wealthy” nation it is if it wasn’t for the raw materials such as cotton, tobacco, and etc that were built under slavery.

Now that we have all come to an understanding of how the settler colony was created, we must now develop a program that frees us from this settler colony. What euro-amerikkans have done to new afrikans is nothing short of genocide. They brutally enslaved us. Subjected us to the terrorism of Jim Crow. Put lead in our water (Oakland,ca & Flint,MI). Incarcerated millions of New Afrikans. Forced Sterilization on New Afrikan women. And the list goes on and on. It is not only our human right, but our God given right to free ourselves from the persecution that we endure. And when we say freedom, we mean complete INDEPENDENCE from our euro-amerikkkan captors.

Now the question begs, what does independence mean on Turtle Island? What does freedom mean? As New Afrikans, freedom is the freeing of the land from euro-amerikkan control. It means taking the heel of colonialism off of our necks, as well as our colonized indigneous comrades. If we free ourselves from our collective oppressor, then we both shall be free!

It also means forming our own sovereign nation where we govern ourselves. In Jalil Muntaqim’s book, We Are Our Own Liberators, he asks 3 important questions:

As New Afrikans, we choose the third. We have the right to be free! And the two other options will have New Afrikans exploited and oppressed. Yet many so-called “academics’ and “online revolutionaries” will quickly say that New Afrikan people freeing ourselves on this land, and wanting control over our own collective destiny, is adjacent to colonization. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Was Fidel Castro and his Afro-Cuban comrades “colonizers” for freeing their land from euro-amerikkan control? If Afro-Brazillians wanted to free themselves from the right wing regime of Bolsoanro does that make them colonizers? If Jamaicans overthrew their conservative government and formed a socialist one does that make them colonizers? The answer is no. Yet many people freely call New Afrikans “colonizers” for wanting freedom from Euro-Amerikkan control. Do these people expect us all to be shipped back to Afrika? This ignorant viewpoint can be traced to their warped version of what colonialism actually is and a false notion that “decolonization” means to “return” to what the world was like pre-colonization.

Colonization involves the occupying of land and subjecting the people on that land to your culture and your economic system — and this subjecting to “culture” and economics involves exploitation enforced and maintained by military force. That is not what New Afrika is.

If we look at the Gullah Geechee people, they have lived *somewhat* separately from mainstream amerikka. Does that make them colonizers? No. And if the Gullah Geechee people fought off the euro-amerikkans currently trying to take their land, it would be their human right to do so!

It is the New Afrikan position that any formation of nationhood would be in treaty and coalition with indigenous people. Indigenous people would have full autonomy in the Republic of New Afrika (RNA) as well as having full autonomous zones within the nation. The RNA would also protect our indigenous comrades.

Free the people!

Turtle Island — The people who are Indigenious to North & Central amerikkka (not white european settlers) often refer to this land as “Turtle Island”. To honor Indigenious creation stories of how this land came to be.

New Afrikan- “We of the New Afrikan Independence Movement spell “Afrikan” with a “k” because Afrikan linguists originally used “k” to indicate the “c” sound in the English language. We use the term “New Afrikan”, instead of Black, to define ourselves as an Afrikan people who have been forciblly transplanted to a new land and formed into a “New Afrikan nation” in North america. Gullah Geechee- Descendants of Afrikans who were enslaved on the Atlantic coast (Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina).

Republic of New Afrika — The land referred to by many as the “Black Belt”. Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina. Has the highest population of Black/New Afrikans in Amerikkka. This would be a logical migration for ALL Black/New Afrikan people.
